The Law of Unintended Consequences – Health Insurance Rate Controls May Force Carriers to Close up Shop?

Health Care Reform. Must give 6 months notice if you’re withdrawing.

Must spend 80% of premium on delivery of services. It does not matter how much you have to spend to get new insureds – you have to spend 80% of your gross receipts on providing benefits.

And the government might be years trying to figure out what that is supposed to look like.

In the mean time – Insurance carriers have to accept any applicants regardless of health history – this before the fines and mandates for everyone healthy or not to have insurance.

This contributes solid evidence to the claims of some that some of those that supported Health Care Reform would know that several carriers and maybe all would be forced out in the interim…
