Congress has once again caused the national flood insurance program to lapse. I have linked the article in the Insurance Journal talks about why the program has lapsed.
Although the article blames Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky as the reason why the program was not renewed. The real issue is that Congress has not managed the renewal of the program in a timely and efficient manor. In the last year alone all Congress has done is authorize a series of short term extensions to the program. This is what we have come to expect from the current Congress.
